Here he is as 'Babet,' part of a gang of bad boys. But he was really a good boy that night. And so were all the kids. A night to remember--and the hat helped.
He's our grandson, too!
Everyone has an inner hat. And every hat has a story.
These are not the best photos because I took them—without flash!—from the back of their small auditorium. Nevertheless, we’re proud of these hats…er, kids!

Freddie Eynsford-Hill, Eliza Doolittle, and the Colonel again.

And the young man, third from the right, is our grandson. Uh-oh. Now you know why we went to the play. But really: you shoulda been there.
My oldest grandson Mike is an actor and performs regularly with Christian Youth Theater. This picture was taken immediately after the play/musical Tom Sawyer, makeup still in place. Mike played a secondary character this time, and if you look closely, you can see the mike taped to Mike’s right cheek. He earned the coveted “Screwball Award” for adding a little levity to his role. But you can trust me—his proud granddad—he’s no screwball. The kid knows what to do with a mike. Aptly named.

Here’s my Grandson on his ninth birthday wearing my hat. “I love hats of every kind, Granddaddy!” In fact, he has quite a few baseball caps displayed in his bedroom. He wouldn’t give me my hat back the whole evening, so later I bought him one of his own. "Just like Granddaddy's." He’s a good kid and this is a good photo. July 2005.
Sean, I remember I told you that your picture would be first on my blog. Well, I slipped up a little and posted your great-granddaddy’s picture first. Hope you don’t mind. I love you.
